Trans Canada Trail
The Trans Canada Trail (the Trail) is the longest recreational trail in the world, spanning over 28,000 kilometres on land…
The idea for an Appalachian Trail was conceived by forester and regional planner Benton MacKaye in 1921 as a respite from rapid urbanization, and as a connection to and among thriving, sustainable rural communities. MacKaye’s vision became a reality in subsequent years by a group of highly dedicated volunteer leaders. The trail was completed in 1937.
