Via Transilvanica Description

Via Transilvanica is Romania’s first long-distance trail, created by Tășuleasa Social Association – an NGO with over 25 years of experience.

Its 1,600 km can be explored on foot, by bike, or on horseback. Via Transilvanica reveals Romania in all its cultural, historical, social, and environmental depth. Along its path lie pristine natural landscapes, eight of the country’s cultural-historical regions, and several UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

One of the trail’s distinctive features is its signage: every kilometer is marked by an individually carved andesite stone, making Via Transilvanica one of the world’s largest open-air sculpture exhibitions.
