Join members of the Task Team, special guests and experts for open forums discussing topics around the theme of education and inclusivity.

All live forums are free and open to anyone who is interested.

Pathways to Trail Leadership
September 17 at 1 pm UTC

How can we ensure the development of the next generation of trail stewards and leaders? Custom designed trails based education programs offer experience and inspiration to youth from all backgrounds, encouraging them to become actively involved in trails stewardship and leadership as volunteers and in their careers. Join this online forum featuring special guest speakers from Taiwan, Lebanon, and Cameroon who will speak about their own successful experiences with youth education programs. 

Speakers include:

Tania Ballan – a local guide and founder of ExploraLB an eco tour agency in Lebanon.


Ekuri Brian Akom – co-founder of a youth group called Earthlight Ambassadors. Currently, he serves as an Ambassador for WTN and as the volunteers coordinator at Green Cameroon.

Brian Shixuan Lee – former President of the Trail Action Club at National Taiwan University (NTU), the largest environmental conservation club in NTU – the only trail conservation-oriented university club in Taiwan, cooperating with the Taiwan Thousand Miles Trail Association to promote environment education, ecotourism and trail stewardship in the higher education system of Taiwan.

Conservation Corps: A Global Model for Trails

Conservation Corps connect and inspire local communities, young people, and those inspired by trails, providing opportunities to become conservation leaders through direct work and training.  They collaborate with communities and partners to build sustainable futures for all.  Learn about how this model can be a global opportunity for trails, with special speakers from the USA and Azerbaijan.

Speakers include:

Marie Walker, Chief Operating Officer, The Corps Network, USA
The Corps Network supports over 140 Corps in the United States with advocacy, funding access, and operational guidance. Corps have built/supported over 15,000 miles of trails in the US!

Jessie Hess, US Forest Service International Programs
The US Forest Service learns and shares natural resource management best practices with partners around the world, including expertise of managing over 160,000 trail miles in the US and operating conservation corps.

Gunay Murshud, Transcaucasian Trail Caucasus Conservation Corps, Azerbaijan
The Transcaucasian Trail is being built through the Caucasus Mountains in Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia.
